After choosing the cover i started to design the inside which i based all on typography. Its only on the last pages that have the images of the memorial and the incident that happened that day.
After sticking with the original logo i did some mock up brochure designs in my sketch book then created a few in InDesign.
I also tried that logo with different typefaces but felt i like the original better as it is more bolder and powerful.
I then decided after discussing with my tutor to not use the hands as part of the name and use them separately also removing the lines.
This idea was the hands helping each other but to form both the letters 'L' in the words National and Memorial
The hands are meant to be representing helping together and make up the letter 'N'
A few Ideas that i did in Illustrator.
The colours i used were american red and blue but i used the red in the hand that is being helped which i thought links to the word memorial.

Some more sketches and ideas......
As i research different images of what happened and tribute pictures i cant help but feel sadness through the lives that were lost on that day.
The first idea/sketch i came up with is the towers making up an arm which leads to a fist which could represent the uprising and moving on from the tragedy of what happened on that day.I also started working on name ideas for the logo on the word survive.
The outcome of will be a logo/marque/typestyle for the memorial, a commemorative promotional book/brochure to celebrate the opening of the memorial which will include the cover and 4 double page spreads, an also a exterior signage.
The first idea that came to me was something to do with the shadows of people which represents the people on that day.
